After many years of use and thousands of meals made, the kitchen at The Birks has been fully replaced to provide the best quality catering facilities for future years to come. Costing approximately £16,500 we are grateful to have been given a £10,000 grant from Awards for All which certainly goes along way with the refurbishment. The kitchen was produced for us and installed by local Market Drayton firm Minshall Construction and provides hardwearing, durable working facilities with ample storage and surface space. Fully stainless steel it offers a much needed upgrade to the old kitchen it replaces including two brand new catering quality cookers and fridges sourced by Chris Fennell’s Appliances.
Over two weekends the old kitchen was removed and replaced by a team of willing volunteers who put in serious man hours to see that kitchen was installed to the highest standards. A particular thanks needs to go to Jon Edwards of Minshalls, and a keen Birks supporter, who hand built and helped install the new units. Without these volunteers The Birks would be unable to function and the Committee would like to offer our hearty thanks to all their efforts.
The new kitchen forms part of ongoing renovation works that the Committee is constantly investing in to bring the facility up to a higher spec and ensure its continued use for many years to come. We are all very proud of how the Birks has progressed in recent years and we look forward to your support in the future as 2015 is set to be a very exciting year for The Birks. Thank you.
